English & Creative Writing

Why Study English & Creative Writing at UWTSD?

Our English and Creative Writing courses have been designed to be both academically and creatively challenging and rewarding, offering a diverse range of teaching approaches, including lectures, small-scale seminars, tutorials and workshop sessions.

The staff team includes expertise in textual scholarship, Medieval, Early Morden, Romanticism, Contemporary Literature and Welsh Writing in English.

The small class sizes give each student the opportunity to work alongside lecturers and fellow students, and significantly develop skills that are prevalent in students' academic, working, and personal lives. Indeed, students and staff  are committed to common intellectual values and a student centred educational experience: a belief in developing individuals through critical, analytical and creative practice, and the exploration of a wide range of ideas, values and beliefs.

Skills learnt on our degrees will both enrich you as an individual and enable you to succeed in a world which increasingly values critical and creative thinking.

"100% of UWTSD's Imaginative Writing students agreed that staff are good at explaining things." - National Student Survey 2016
